Author and historian Tim Grove will join us in the City Hall Council Chambers to answer questions about his 10 years working at The Smithsonian. His career has included positions at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Missouri Historical Society, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Virginia. During the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial 2004-06, Tim helped develop the national exhibition which traveled the country. This event is brought to you by The Friends of the Library and Neighborhood Reads. Books will be sold the night of the event.

The Community Literacy Foundation, in partnership with the School District of Washington, Washington Public Library, Friends of the Library and the Washington Optimist Club, will host Family Reading Night on Friday, March 3, at Washington Middle School. The program kicks off at 6 p.m. with picture book author and illustrator Colter Jackson sharing her book, “Rhino Suit,” a story of a young girl who feels things so deeply, she builds a tough-skinned rhino suit for protection. But she discovers that to feel the good, it’s important to learn ways to deal with the not-so-good.

Get ready for snowy weather and build a rustic fabric snowman at this month’s make and take. All supplies provided. Tuesday, February 7 at 6:00 p.m. Ages 12 & Up

Love is in the air. Come construct a fanciful “gingerbread” house out of graham crackers, frosting, and seasonal candies and give it to someone you love. All supplies provided. Registration begins Monday, January 30th. Limit 30. Wednesday, February 8th at 3:30 p.m. Family

January 20, 2023. Beginning Friday, January 27, contractors will start working the interior of the library, working in the ceilings of the library. During this work, certain areas of the library will be unavailable for browsing. These areas will change from week-to-week. Staff will be available to help get materials when it is safe to do so. Please ask staff for help. There are three distinct phases of this project that will effect the ability of the public to browse the collection: Thank You for your patience and understanding during this project.
